NPMT’s featured speaker and performer is bassist and songwriter, Nathan East. A San Diego native and UCSD alumni earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance, East has collaborated with some of the top names in music. He's one of the founding members of contemporary Jazz quartet Fourplay with Bob James, Larry Carlton & Harvey Mason. Nathan has co-written, recorded and performed with Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Herbie Hancock, George Harrison, Elton John and co-wrote the number 1 hit song "Easy Lover" with Phil Collins & Philip Bailey. East has served as a long standing member of Clapton’s studio and touring band and played on Clapton’s Grammy award-winning “Unplugged” album, and also lent his talent to Clapton’s “Change The World,” which was awarded Song of the Year at the 1997 Grammy Awards. Last year Nathan was awarded with a Congressional Record from the United States Congress for his outstanding contribution to the music community. He performed at this year's Inaugural Concert Celebration for President Barack Obama with Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Jon Bon Jovi, James Taylor, Garth Brooks and Bruce Springsteen. East is also am member of the Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association of San Diego.
